Illustrated Leporello
Workshop

Collaboration with Olga Epikhina
einBuch.kollektiv, Berlin
2025, 2026

Participants are guided through making a hardcover leporello — an accordion-fold artist book, illustrated with carbon paper. They learn to work with the technique, think about storytelling and page montage, fold pages, bind them into a hardcover, and finish with a textile collage cover made from bookbinding cloth and fabric.

The book is the message –
On experimental bookbinding
and artist books

Workshop week
Merz Akademie, Hochschule für Gestaltung, Kunst und Medien, Stuttgart
2024

The first part of the week some technical aspects with practical exercises and experiments with book binding and foldings were covered, to see what shapes a book can take.

After that, each student conzeptualized their own idea for a unique artist book – where format, paper and content merged into a new form. Appoximately two days were used for content creation and book making, the last day the group presented the final works for the rest of the students in the format of a small exhibition.
